SPECIAL PACKAGE: SIX MONTHS TO SUCCESS!
Our six-month training program includes the Summer Session Beginner Program plus the Fall Session Beginner Program or the Fall Session Half-Marathon Program, plus lots of other benefits. See sidebar on Half-Marathon page for further info.
OVERVIEW
This beginner running program will prepare you to run from four to six miles. If you've ever dreamed of running a Half-Marathon or perhaps the NYC Marathon, this is the program that will start you on the path to becoming a runner.

• If you are just starting to run and want to learn how to do it properly or…
• If you've been running on the treadmill and want to take it to the road or…
• If you are currently able to run 1 or 2 miles and want to run further or…
• If you want to run again after an extended lay-off
The Beginner's Running Program is created and coached by The Running Center's Owner and Head Coach, Coach Mindy, and includes the following.
• Group Runs. The professionally coached, group runs take place mostly in Central Park. We also plan interesting new courses outside of the park. The dates of the runs are indicated on the training schedule and meet as follows:
≈Every Tuesday evening at 7:00pm
≈Every other Saturday morning
Winter & Spring session Sat runs meet at 9:00am
Summer session Sat runs meet at 8:00am in May & June and 7:30am in July
and Aug
Fall session Sat runs meet at 7:30am in July, Aug, Sept & 8:00am in Oct
Holiday session Saturday runs meet at 9:00am
• Distances & Types of Runs. The distance of each run will vary and include aerobic runs, fun runs, form work, hill runs and some speedwork.
• Pace Groups. Time trials are run and pace groups are determined.
• Training Schedule. A comprehensive, customized daily training schedule is designed and distributed at the Kick-off Meeting.
• Training Advice. Weekly emails are sent with training advice on many topics including nutrition, conditioning exercises, running shoes, injury prevention and more.
• Goals. A specific goal race or distance is pre-determined for the team with coaching support at local races.
• Clinics. Free entry into on-site clinics led by Coach Mindy are held on Wednesday evenings at 7:00pm, once per month.
• Tele-clinics. Free entry into 30-minute tele-clinics led by Coach Mindy are held on Wednesdays at 5:00pm, once per month.
• Personal Attention. Individual goal-setting for training runs and races are given to each participant from Coach Mindy with results sheet sent after the run. It's like having a private coach within the group setting!
• On-Going Support. Ongoing email, phone and person-to-person support with answers to all your questions by Coach Mindy.
• Energy. PowerBar® energy food is distributed throughout the training program.
• Team Gear. Team running gear and accessories are included.
• Team Camaraderie. One of the best reasons to join!
